The West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce is an accredited branch of the UK’s biggest business networking organisation.
One of its services to members is the staging of a monthly networking event, The Business Social Network.
Outwrite was invited to provide an expert speaker to present on a topic relevant to Chamber members, at the June 2013 meeting.
Planning and implementation
We had been receiving increasing numbers of enquiries for advice and help with search engine optimisation (SEO) from both new and existing clients. We therefore decided to give a short presentation focusing on this essential online marketing tactic.
We created a bespoke, concise presentation that provided an insightful overview of how to set up five key tactics related to SEO. It covered the importance of keyword research, clever content, link building and social media, as well as how to set up Google Analytics properly.
Our speaker’s key points were illustrated using graphics and other imagery on a small number of PowerPoint slides. Chunks of text were not used or read out!
The tips and supporting data from the presentation were consolidated in an infographic handout given to each attendee. Electronic copies were emailed to delegates later that day.
The presentation was well attended and given positive feedback by the Chamber members present, many of whom commented to Outwrite and Chamber personnel present that it had given them a new-found understanding of the importance of SEO and how to set it up.
As well as taking questions from the audience about individual cases, Outwrite personnel also gave informal, one-to-one advice to a number of members who approached us afterwards to discuss their own SEO needs.
We received and responded to further enquiries for advice via email in the following days.
Chamber Executive Director Colin Brew said: “Outwrite’s presentation gave proper advice to equip members with the knowledge to develop their own SEO programmes. Members told us afterwards that they had learned valuable tips and ideas.
“Outwrite’s presentation fulfilled the Chamber’s brief to provide insider knowledge on a specialist business topic, that the Chamber could provide as added value to our members.”
For Outwrite, the event was very successful, as it raised awareness of our SEO abilities and services offered among potential clients and advocates.
