“My confidence, skills, and knowledge have increased tremendously and I’m grateful to have worked in such a vibrant and welcoming environment.”

These are the words of Hannah Morris, a sixth form student at Hawarden High School who successfully completed a one-week work experience with Outwrite PR.

The A-level media, psychology, criminology, and Welsh Baccalaureate student got a glimpse into the world of public relations after reaching out to the agency to gain hands-on experience.

Having a passion for all things creative, the Flintshire local successfully undertook a variety of tasks, including overseeing video editing and interviews, carrying out marketing research, and creating client media content.

Reflecting upon her placement, she said: “My previous role as a hairdresser’s assistant was very different from working in an office environment, so I was nervous to begin with, but all the team at Outwrite were friendly so I quickly settled in.

“The first day was also a new experience for me as I attended a filming session and was thrilled to be part of the video producing process and have the chance to observe live interviews.

“Overall, my time at Outwrite taught me a lot, such as what makes a good magazine layout or an interesting story, which will help me complete my studies over the coming year.”

In light of recent research revealing 36 per cent of all UK employment vacancies were due to skills shortages, Hannah encourages students to consider upskilling through work experience.

She said: “No matter how long the placement lasts, completing work experience is definitely beneficial as you gain insight into a specific industry as well as your own working preferences.”

Outwrite PR managing director Anthony Bullick said: “It’s been great to have Hannah on board, with her enthusiasm and curiosity for the world of PR evident in her thoughtful questions and professionalism.

“We are passionate about supporting the next generation of PR superstars, whether that’s by visiting universities to deliver guest lectures or welcoming students on placements.

“So, when Hannah reached out to us, we were more than happy to have her join us for a week.

“We want to thank Hannah for her contribution during her time here and wish her the best of luck for the remainder of her studies.”

Outwrite’s clients include construction firm Wynne Construction, Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK, Warrington-based Watsons Solicitors, and Xplore! Science Discovery Centre.
