Overview
Having embedded the principles of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) at the heart of its operations for more than 50 years, Harlech Foodservice has a long-standing commitment to its people, the local community, and the wider environment.
To help communicate these commitments, the firm appointed Outwrite to produce its inaugural ESG report, which was shortlisted for an industry award. Following its success, we were reappointed to produce the business’ second publication, building on the foundations of the first and showcasing the business’ continued growth.
Objectives and planning
Through our experience in producing the firm’s inaugural 2022/23 report, we were able to use this as a benchmark to create an updated publication that engaged with stakeholders, showcased Harlech’s continued dedication to ESG, and succinctly captured the company’s past, present, and future goals.
By planning interviews with key personnel and extracting data, we were able to uncover stories and insights that helped bring Harlech’s ESG activity to life.
The report was designed to be a valuable communications resource, with its content able to be repurposed for use at future meetings and events, while also forming the basis for social media and online content.

- Creating a valuable internal resource that can be repurposed for future communication, social media, and marketing content.
- Securing 20 hits across regional and trade media.
- Providing its bid team with content to support future tender opportunities.
- Increasing stakeholder awareness of the business’ impact on the local community and the environment.
“We were seeking to tell Harlech Foodservice’s story across its environmental, social, and governance activities, and we engaged Outwrite as our ESG PR agency.
“The team worked with us diligently to map out our communications, which included producing an engaging inaugural ESG report that has helped tell our story to key stakeholders. The content has also been repurposed across different departments, such as tender submissions.
“The subsequent range of media coverage, which included trade, green, and regional titles, is fantastic, as are the media interview opportunities that followed.”
