The managing director of a leading digital PR agency offered advice to students about how to stand out to employers at the University of Chester’s employability conference.

Outwrite PR’s Tracy North joined a selection of speakers from within the marketing, tourism, and events management industries to deliver talks on their career paths, and give students the chance to network with key industry contacts.

Tracy, a third generation journalist, talked about some of her career highlights including founding Outwrite PR in 1994 and reporting from the Falkland Islands as a journalist.

She also revealed her top tips to impress employers, which stressed volunteering to get experience and communicating well in professional workplaces.

Other speakers included Sara Knowles from UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), who discussed how valuable languages are to gain employment, and Kala Krishnan, founder and owner of Chester’s Bloop Bubble Tea, spoke about the importance of attitude and determination in order to land a dream role in business.

Tracy said: “The employability conference provided an effective platform for professionals and students to connect.

“I was able to provide students with some useful advice, which I hope will boost their confidence in securing a long and successful career.”
