Linguistics and English literature graduate Johanna Brandt is confident she’s developed the skills to captivate an audience through the written word as her internship with Outwrite PR came to an end.
During her time with the Welsh PR agency, which she joined in June, the German native created social media posts and graphics, edited video footage, and revamped marketing collateral.
Fuelled by her love of communications, the 21-year-old was inspired to apply for the opportunity via the Bangor University job board.
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the placement was made available to students as part of its Skills and Innovation Voucher (SIV) scheme.
Designed to support Welsh businesses, the SIV programme provides companies with a skilled worker to help improve operations.
With a total of 40 vouchers on offer across Flintshire, Gwynedd, and Anglesey, Outwrite was successfully awarded a voucher allowing the agency to nurture new talent via a three-month placement.
Discussing her experience, Johanna said: “I really enjoyed my time at Outwrite as no two days were the same and my confidence grew tremendously since starting.
“The placement offered me insight into what it’s like working on the agency side of the public relations field and really helped me understand how to captivate an audience’s attention when writing.”
Anthony Bullick, Outwrite PR managing director, said: “Johanna undoubtedly benefitted the team through her strong work ethic.
“Not only was she quick to adapt to the fast-paced world of PR, but she settled in really well and her background in studying linguistics brought an interesting skillset which enhanced our team.
“As an agency that prides itself on supporting emerging talent, we were thrilled to be awarded one of the SIV vouchers and look forward to seeing how she progresses in her career journey beyond Outwrite.”
Outwrite’s clients include construction firm Wynne Construction, Warrington-based Watsons Solicitors, and Flintshire County Council.
The agency specialises in integrated PR, crisis PR and online reputation management.
