The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Cymru conference was hailed as a huge success, attracting a record-breaking number of comms professionals from across Wales to Wrexham.

Mold-based Outwrite PR was the headline sponsor of the event, which brought together speakers from organisations including Wrexham University and Halen Môn, representing a variety of fields ranging from public affairs to B2B podcasting.

With more than 70 people in attendance, the event was an opportunity for communicators to gather, build connections, and share industry knowledge.

The day centred around the theme of ‘a sense of place’, bringing together talks, workshops, and networking opportunities in the thriving city of Wrexham amid its pursuit to become the UK City of Culture 2029.

Guests heard from leading PR and comms professionals, with discussions covering topics ranging from the new structure of the Senedd to emerging trends shaping the industry.

Outwrite’s involvement extended beyond supporting the organisation of the event, with managing director and CIPR Hall of Fame inductee, Anthony Bullick, chairing the conference.

The chartered PR practitioner commented: “Having the CIPR Cymru conference hosted in North Wales for the first time was amazing and a testament to the growing nature of both the region and the comms sector.

“It was a pleasure chairing the event, ensuring it ran smoothly so that those in attendance could get as much value from the day as possible, and hopefully some of the knowledge gained will be translated into their own work.

“These conferences are always something to look forward to, and it was great meeting up with some familiar faces to discuss topics at the forefront of the communications sector.”

Additionally, attendees were able to engage in breakout workshops, covering the likes of podcasting and digital content creation.

One of the attendees getting the most from the event was Outwrite account executive, Ben Kavanagh, who said: “The conference was a real eye opener to some of the amazing work being carried out within the north of the country.

“From Wrexham’s future ambitions to insights into one of the UK’s most unique comms roles at one of the country’s busiest national parks, it was a really interesting day.

“It’s always great getting the opportunity to attend events like this to discuss some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the industry.”
