Outwrite’s managing director will be speaking at a key business group’s event on sustainable communications.

The CBI has invited Anthony Bullick to share best practice on internal and external PR, including how to avoid greenwashing, embed transparency in the organisation, and keep a myriad of stakeholders updated.

Anthony will be joined by Cecilia Parker Aranha, project director at Competition and Markets, and Airbus’ head of sustainability & environment UK, Alessandro Badino, who will chair the webinar.

The session, which includes a Q+A, is the latest in a series of events run by the CBI’s Sustainability Community, which was set up to help businesses find practical solutions to decarbonise.

Anthony, who earlier this month led Outwrite’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) seminar, said: “The climate crisis is high on the agenda for companies, yet there is panic and hesitation when it comes to communicating their efforts.

“Greenwashing has been striking fear into many brands, while greenhushing, the act of not saying anything through worrying that you will be accused of making misleading claims or vilified for not hitting targets, is now very much a concern.

“Sharing stories and updating stakeholders on your net zero journey is critical to validate your activities and strengthen your ethos to the UK’s journey to net zero.”

Outwrite, which was shortlisted for ESG consultancy of the year at the 2022 ESG Awards, has also produced free resources for businesses seeking to integrate environmental, social, and governance activity into their PR and communications strategy. Anthony, one of only 500 chartered PR practitioners in the UK, added: “There are stats galore showcasing how stakeholders ranging from clients and employees to politicians and the local community hold sustainability efforts high on their list of expectations from firms.

“This webinar will help organisations better understand how to effectively communicate to educate, build trust, and inform.”
