Our very own Jane Jackson has completed a gruelling charity challenge by swimming the equivalent of the Irish Channel in just a month.
Jane, senior administrator at Outwrite, swam 21km (1,400 lengths) in the pool at her gym in Chester in just 10 sessions – averaging an impressive 140 lengths per visit.
She has raised £330 so far with donations still coming in, for children’s charity Whizz-Kidz, which is dedicated to giving disabled youngsters the chance to lead a more independent life.
Jane said: “I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me.
“The money raised will help to improve the quality of life for disabled children across the country.
“It was a tough challenge but I enjoyed every minute of it, and the support from my friends, family and colleagues has been fantastic.”
The Irish Channel, also known as the North Channel, runs between the north of Ireland and the Mull of Galloway in south western Scotland.
There is still time to make a donation. Simply visit Jane’s Just Giving page at http://www.justgiving.com/Jane-M-Jackson
