Outwrite team member and geology graduate Holly Rowlands has received a glowing acknowledgement for her role in the production of a scientific textbook.

Holly, who graduated from Keele University with a first class honours degree in geology with geography in 2004, worked at Mold-based geophysical and geological consultancy Reynolds International prior to joining Outwrite.

During her time there she produced and updated hundreds of graphics and figures for the second edition of the respected Geophysics textbook An Introduction to Applied and Environmental Geophysics.

The 700-page text, published by Wiley-Blackwell, is available later this month in both hardback and paperback and is expected to be a valuable reference tool for both industry professionals and geophysics students world-wide.

Author and managing director of Reynolds International, Professor John Reynolds, singled Holly out for praise in the acknowledgements section of the book.

John, a well-known local business figure who is known globally as an authority within specialist areas such as earthquake and glacial hazards, said: “Producing the graphics for a text like this is a mammoth task.

“Special thanks must go to Holly, who undertook the vast majority of the work.”

Holly said: “For my work to be recognised with a written acknowledgement is a tremendous honour. It gave me a real buzz to see the finished product after all the work that was put into it.”
