Outwrite PR has further strengthened its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) comms credentials after being shortlisted for a key industry award.
The Wales-based PR agency produced Harlech Foodservice’s inaugural ESG report, with the publication nominated at the ESG & Sustainability Awards 2024.
The foodservice wholesaler, which has offices in Criccieth, Carmarthen, Chester, Merthyr Tydfil, and Shropshire, appointed Outwrite after identifying areas for improvement around communication with stakeholders to update them on their ESG efforts.
One of the key pieces of work was a bilingual report to succinctly tell Harlech’s ESG story covering historic and current activity as well as future plans.
Storytelling and creative worked hand-in-hand to produce an engaging publication, with people placed at the heart of the data.
A follow-up press release issued by Outwrite secured 20 pieces of coverage across regional and trade media. Of the 12 online hits, 50 per cent had a domain authority of more than 40, helping to boost Harlech’s SEO efforts.
Outwrite news and content manager Tom Norris said: “We were fortunate to have a forward-thinking client which actively engaged with ourselves on the latest best practices and techniques.
“Harlech doesn’t have a legal obligation to produce an ESG report, but it was agreed that publishing its first one would help strengthen the brand’s commitment to the topic.
“Importantly, the content was drafted in a way that multiple stakeholder groups would be able to read, understand, and resonate with it.
“We’re thrilled that Harlech’s dedication to ESG is being recognised through being shortlisted for best ESG report.”
Harlech Foodservice, which has embedded the principles of ESG at the heart of its activities for more than 50 years, counts large local large authorities and health boards, as well as smaller independent operators, among its customers.
Mark Lawton, sales director at Harlech, said: “Our efforts across the three pillars of environmental, social, and governance are critical to our business success, and it was imperative we told this story to our stakeholders.
“As well as customers, we wanted to communicate with current and potential employees, our supply chain, the public sector, and industry bodies.
