Staying ahead of industry trends and keeping up to date with best practices in an industry that is constantly evolving.
That is the feedback from Outwrite PR senior account executive Alexia Jones when asked why completing the continuing professional development (CPD) programme with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) was important.
For a third successive year, Alexia has enhanced her skillset by engaging with the scheme that requires participants to earn a minimum 60 points across each 12-month cycle.
Alexia, who was co-opted onto the CIPR North West committee at the start of 2024, said: “It is fantastic that we are encouraged to be a part of a programme that enhances our work as PR practitioners.
“There is a wonderful array of resources available, including webinars, e-books, and podcasts, with each one offering valuable insight.
“Another important part of the CPD is that it’s not solely about utilising CIPR resources. For example, I spoke at Outwrite’s PR and marketing conference and could log that as part of my development.”
A particular highlight of Alexia’s latest year of learning came in the shape of the CIPR’s Navigating Trans+ Inclusivity webinar.
On the session aimed at highlighting what comms pros need to consider regarding the topic, Alexia said: “It is an important issue to understand, and the experts provided some really useful practical tips on how to make work inclusive for all.”
Anthony Bullick, Outwrite managing director, also completed the scheme and retained his chartered PR practitioner status.
Since joining the agency in 2012, he has made a conscious effort to ensure colleagues are completing the CPD cycle.
He said: “I’m proud that ever since I arrived at Outwrite, the programme has had a real importance.
“It is crucial for the agency that we stay across the latest trends and the best practices, because if you stand still you end up falling behind.
“Each and every member of the team gets time to learn, not only about aspects such as ethics, which are key, but about areas they are passionate about like social media strategy or sustainability topics.
“If practitioners are able to focus on subjects that they are genuinely interested about then they will be more likely to absorb crucial knowledge, which enhances their skillset.”
Outwrite’s clients include construction firm Wynne Construction, Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK, Warrington-based Watsons Solicitors, and Xplore! Science Discovery Centre.
The agency specialises in integrated PR, crisis PR, and online reputation management.
