Warrington recruiter targets Manchester expansion
A WARRINGTON recruitment boss who masterminded a period of growth has been tasked with leading his company’s expansion into Greater Manchester. Since taking over as manager of gap personnel’s Warrington branch in November 2009, Ross Sullivan has overseen a 300 per cent increase in the number of temporary workers placed per week. Ross, a former commercial and marketing executive at rugby league side Warrington Wolves, has now been promoted to area manager – with responsibility for establishing gap in Greater Manchester.
The 31-year-old said: “Expansion into Manchester represents a natural progression for us, and I am honoured to be overseeing it. “With the Airport City scheme set to create thousands of jobs as the focal point of the new Manchester Enterprise Zone, and momentum gathering behind the £560m Northern Hub plan, these are exciting times for Manchester.
“gap wants to be a part of that and I am confident we are bringing something different to the city’s competitive recruitment market.” gap’s Warrington branch, on Barbauld Street, is now firmly established as the town’s leading industrial recruitment specialist – supplying temporary workers to firms in sectors including manufacturing, warehousing, waste management, recycling and food production. gap personnel managing director Gary Dewhurst added:
“gap is now firmly established across the North West and it makes sense to target the region’s biggest market.
“Manchester is a highly competitive market and establishing ourselves there will be a challenge. However, I am confident we have the drive, dynamism and credentials to succeed.” gap personnel is the UK’s eighth largest industrial labour provider. The independent, privately-owned agency places up to 5,000 temporary workers per week nationally.
Group turnover in 2011 was £60m and revenues are forecast to hit £75m this year. gap’s other North West branches include Liverpool, Crewe and Preston. gap is currently on the lookout for premises in Manchester, and plans to open a branch in the city during 2012.
